Hey hey guys,
Today’s prompt was “what’s the oldest thing you’re wearing today?”
I’ve read a few of the responses and I like the ones where people have answered “my skin” or “my smile”. One guy was brazen enough to say “my looks”, bless him.
In terms of physical things that aren’t part of my body, I think the oldest thing I’m wearing is my engagement ring. It’s a simple white-gold band with a square cut diamond in the middle. In times of stress and anxiety, I look down at the diamond and I swear, it shines the brightest when I need courage. I swear it does!
I’m of the mind that the diamond chosen for my ring was accidentally used from the more expensive range. I don’t know why but I’ve had this strong feeling the diamond is extra special and worth more than the $3000.00 Alun paid for it. Haha. Wishful thinking maybe, but it’s something that makes me smile and as a writer, I can’t help but think this particular diamond has a story.
I imagine it was worn on a princesses’ crown hundreds of years ago.
