Thankful for my “bespoke family” and bonus parents.

Daily writing prompt
Describe a positive thing a family member has done for you.

Today’s daily prompt is to describe a positive thing a family member has done for me.

It’s like asking someone to describe a particular strand of grass in their garden. How do you pick from SO MANY???

It’s not necessarily “positive” (it is absolutely lovely, though), but I am thankful for my bonus parents, Lyn and Pete. They are the Mom and Dad I have always dreamed of. They cheer me on through the hard times, cuddle me in the dark times and dance with me in the good times.

When I was recovering from brain injury, I was going back to work at a part time basis – only 3 hours per day instead of 8.

My ‘bonus Mom’ Lyn drove me to and from work every single day and would encourage me when I was scared or anxious and praise me every time she picked me up and dropped me off.

This would have been a sacrifice to Lyn – time, energy, petrol…but she did it lovingly and never asked for anything in return. I’m so thankful for my bonus Mom.
